Learning outcomes
Upon successful completion of this unit, students will be able to:1. Complete a discrete piece of original industry orientated research project, in association with an academic supervisor;
2. Document and communicate industry related research to demonstrate required professional membership requirements;
3. Take individual responsibility for the implementation of an original piece of industry related research work and to take a leading role in exploring the implications of that work in the broader context;
4. Express professional knowledge, understanding, ideas, arguments and opinions with confidence and clarity; in both spoken and written form, with the effective use of relevant communication aids; and
5. Demonstrate the ability to work ethically within a team and to manage time, goals and priorities.

Skills development
In this unit, students will continue planning, developing and finalising their research projects. Students will conduct their data collection and analysis and establish results from them. Students will be appointed an appropriate academic supervisor to oversee their research projects. At the end of this unit, students will present their detailed research outcome and dissertation to academics, members of their own cohort and industry partners.

Submission of assessment items
Extensions & Late submissions
All assignments submitted for grading must be word-processed or video-recording. Students must be able to produce an electronic copy of all work submitted and be able to resubmit if requested by the Convenor.
Students are expected to retain copies of all assessment items submitted until a final grade for the course has been awarded. Creating a backup of all your computer files is highly recommended.

Special assessment requirements
Artificial intelligence
Students are not permitted to use generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) in assessments for this unit.
GenAI may only be used in authorised ways when completing assessments at UC. This means that GenAI can only be used for an assessment when:
- the Unit Convener has authorised GenAI use for that assessment
- the student uses GenAI in the way that the assessment instructions allow
- the student fully acknowledges their use of GenAI, with proper citations, references and a GenAI Acknowledgement Statement in line with the assessmentinstructions.
Where the assessment instructions do not specifically state that GenAI may be used and how, then its use is not permitted for that assessment. Students must still provide the required GenAI Acknowledgement Statement to indicate whether GenAI has or has not been used in the preparation of the assessment. If unsure, students should seek advice from the Unit Convener.

Students must apply academic integrity in their learning and research activities at UC. This includes submitting authentic and original work for assessments and properly acknowledging any sources used.

Participation requirements
Students are expected to allocate at least 12 hours per week for this unit. It is highly recommended to well-engage with your academic supervisor from week 1.
