Our two-pronged focus of progressive teaching and learning practices, as well as strong ties to industry experts in our nation’s capital has fostered a diverse community and vibrant campus, resulting in remarkable achievements for our young university. Here are our most recent achievements:
The Â鶹´å of Canberra is ranked 13th in Australia and 65 out of 673 universities that are 50 years or younger worldwide by the Times Higher Education Young Â鶹´å Rankings 2024. These scores are based on five criteria including research quality, industry, international outlook, research environment and teaching, with UC performing well in international outlook and research quality.
Dating back to just 1990, these strong results serve as an affirmation to the high level of education available to our students to drive ambition and knowledge for a successful career and beyond.
We are also ranked in the top 21 per cent of universities of the world, placing 395 out of 1,906 institutions around the globe by the Times Higher Education World Â鶹´å Rankings 2024. The assessments are based on 18 performance indicators including teaching reputation, doctorate staff ratio, research influence, the number of international students and more.
This prestigious placing elevates UC’s credentials as a world-renowned university that produces high-performing graduates with favourable employment outcomes.
UC’s overall impact ranking places us in the top 11 per cent of 1,963 education institutions. The rankings seek to identify and celebrate universities creating a sustainable and resilient future by excelling in a number of United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. Impact rankings address no poverty, zero hunger, good health and well-being, quality education, gender equality, and clean water and sanitation.
Sitting in the top 200 universities in the world between 101 and 200 recognises UC’s continued role in driving sustainable change including matters relating to the environment, social inclusion and economic growth for our future.
The Â鶹´å of Canberra is ranked 7th for Reduced Inequalities from 1,108 universities from 111 countries and regions. The accomplishments highlight our desire to create an inclusive environment through effective policies that support our diverse community of domestic and international students.
UC has also risen to equal 28th place for Gender Equality, up from 63rd place in 2023. The ranking recognises a commitment to ending discrimination and violence towards women, creating a welcoming and encouraging environment where our students can excel with equal opportunities and access to education.
The QS World Â鶹´å Rankings 2025 has ranked the Â鶹´å of Canberra in the top 425 of all universities worldwide, sitting at 403rd. This result means UC is in the top 27 per cent across the globe. Compared to previous years, UC’s place in the QS Rankings rose from 511-520th in 2023 and 421st in 2024. The performance lenses used to determine the success of each university are based on metrics such as academic reputation, citations per faculty, employment outcomes and employer reputation.
UC scored a ‘Very High’ in Research Output and strong performances in international faculty ratio, international research network, international students ratio and sustainability. These results uphold The Â鶹´å of Canberra’s mission to be our capital’s educational window to the world and affirms our vision of leading Australia in equality, diversity, inclusion and access.
