What is Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC)?

Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) is health insurance specifically for international students on student visas. OSHC is compulsory for international student visa holders and their dependents (unless an exemption applies*) and is required for the entire length of your student visa.

You must arrange your own OSHC before applying for a student visa. You should do this immediately after you accept your offer and receive your electronic confirmation of enrolment (eCoE) from the Â鶹´å of Canberra.

Allianz Care Australia Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC)

The Â鶹´å’s preferred OSHC provider is Allianz Care Australia. Allianz Care Australia OSHC provides cover towards the cost of: ​

  • Out of hospital medical treatment&²Ô²ú²õ±è;​
  • In hospital medical treatment&²Ô²ú²õ±è;​
  • Prescription medicines&²Ô²ú²õ±è;​
  • Surgically implanted prostheses&²Ô²ú²õ±è;​
  • Emergency ambulance transport

In addition to your Allianz Care Australia OSHC, you will gain access to gap free medical services to support you during your studies in Australia. These services include:​

  • 24/7 Australian based telehealth services powered by 
  • Access to our network of direct billing health providers.
  • No out of pocket cost to attend medical appointments at the UC Medical and Counselling Centre

  • Increased policy inclusions with  which includes no waiting period for pregnancy related conditions and $100,000 medical repatriation benefit.

If your family will be accompanying you on your study journey to Australia, your visa requires you to upgrade your policy from single to family cover.

This applies regardless of the company you are insured with.

Getting your OSHC card

Once you receive your Certificate of Insurance, you are encouraged to access your e-Membership card by downloading the MyHealth App - .
